Who doesn’t like to listen to music? The Answer: Assholes. Assholes don’t like to listen to music. Some assholes listen to music, but definitely all assholes Do Not listen to music. But enough about assholes.

Assholes.

Earlier in October, I found myself on tour with my good friends in Slet Bubeniku, traveling throughout Czech Republic.  For those of you who do not speak Czech, this name translates to The Gathering of Drummers.  Oh yes.  A band of drummers coming together to make music.  Surely, this is making someone’s asshole pucker somewhere (there’s that word again!).  But in all seriousness, Slet Bubeniku is the culmination of some of central Europe’s top percussionist in their respective fields ranging from African, Indian, Brazilian percussionists, to name a few.  Being that I, for the second year in a row, am the only American in the group I come in as the special guest.  I’m announced as a “Metal Jazz Master from New York City,” probably the coolest thing anyone has ever called me.  Much better than being called an asshole.  And, surprisingly, highly accurate.  Well, maybe not the master part.  Yet.
