DEFEAT! Well, only partially. As it turns out there’s no one who can help us get further south than Charlotte, North Carolina. Atlanta has completely fallen apart and no one will return emails further south than SC. We have one last shot at playing in SC but it doesn’t seem all that positive at the moment.
Booking a tour on our own is a task that we knew would be difficult and setting the goal of travelling to 8-10 cities we’ve never been to before was extremely challenging. We set the bar high and unfortunately the further away from NYC we look, the less people care about this band they’ve never heard of.
The challenges haven’t stopped there either! We had booked the Philadelphia gig specifically to cater to our date requirement. The main band on the bill decided that instead of HUNG, they wanted their friends to play the show. SERIOUSLY. Anyway, it took less than two days for some awesome, dedicated metal heads in Philly to allow us to jump on their show. THAT is what metal is all about – a band is in need and the other bands rally to help them out. Special thanks to Jo Schuftan for making the introduction happen leading to the new gig, and to Ryan Norris and Bob Lugowe for their support as well.
Doing It On Our Own Day 75 – T-Minus 28 Days and Counting!
The only words I can use to fully describe the timeline we’re working with here are, “Holy Shit.” We have four weeks to solidify more than half a tour and that is really not good. We’ve made the executive decision to cut the tour off at the Carolina’s and head back north from there because we don’t have strong enough connections to make anything happen at this point.
We’re really playing it by ear at this point. Here’s the current Schedule:
May 3rd – The Trash Bar, Brooklyn, New York
May 4th – Club Risque’, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
May 5th – Bank Shots Stanton, Wilmington, Delaware
May 6th – [SOMEWHERE BETWEEN DE AND NC!] (Help us book it!)
May 7th – [SOMEWHERE BETWEEN DE AND NC!] (Help us book it!)
May 8th – The Milestone, Charlotte, North Carolina
And the modified part stads like this: We have someone suggesting places to talk to about May 9th in SC though most places we’ve contacted haven’t responded to us. We have a pretty solid connection with someone who is looking into Pittsburgh for a gig on the 9th or 10th. If we can land Pittsburgh, we might also be hitting Ohio the next day. If that happens, we might be able to book a couple of gigs across New York in Buffalo, Rochester and Albany. These are places we’ve hit before and feel pretty confident about reaching out to for gigs.
So what do you think? Are we going to make this thing more than four shows? Is HUNG going to fail at our effort of booking a tour on our own? Do we resign to the fact that even as a signed band we can’t even book local bars on our own? We’ve got four weeks to find out.
